The Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, is D3football.com's weekly honor roll, in its 27th season of recognizing the top performance at each position from the previous week. Players are nominated by schools.
Offense
QB Patch Flanagan, Sr., Union
Flanagan accounted for 313 total yards and all four Union touchdowns in a 33-16 win over Hobart on Saturday. The senior completed 11 of 15 passes for 197 yards, while also running 23 times for 116 yards and four touchdowns.
OL Gus Salopek, David Freedman, Sean DiDona, Zach Miller, Owen Myer, Case Western Reserve
The Case offensive line helped the Spartans' offense break 300 rushing yards and score six rushing touchdowns in a 62-21 win over Allegheny. The group helped CWRU amass 302 rushing yards in the win, the most by the team in a game since the 2016 campaign. In addition, they did not allow a sack during the game and helped CWRU total 439 yards of offense in the contest.
RB Jacob Schuh, Sr., Pacific Lutheran
Schuh rushed for 327 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 9.1 yards per carry and shattering a school single season rushing record that has stood since 1996 in a 41-27 win over Puget Sound. He also had two catches for 49 yards, finishing the day with 376 all-purpose yards.
RB Ryan Lynskey, Jr., Bates
Lynskey rushed for 221 yards and a career-high four touchdowns as Bates scored twice in the fourth quarter to rally for a 35-28 win at Tufts. He ran the ball a career-high 32 times in the win, averaging 6.9 yards per carry. Lynskey's 24-yard touchdown run up the gut with 58 seconds left in regulation proved to be the game-winner for the Bobcats.
WR Thomas Skokna, Sr., North Central
Skokna caught a program-record five touchdowns, the most in D-III this season, while catching eight passes for 206 yards in a win vs. Millikin. His 206 receiving yards rank fifth-most for a single game in NCC history.
WR Chase Newman, So., Monmouth
Newman had a record setting day for the Scots with 13 catches for 301 yards and four touchdowns. His 301 yards are a single-game Monmouth record and the fourth-most yards by a wide receiver in Midwest Conference history. He tied his own school record with 4 TD and also set a Monmouth record for longest play from scrimmage with a 98 yard touchdown. his 13 receptions are a career-high, one more than he had in a game against Lake Forest last month.
TE Joey Gendreau, Sr., St. John's
Gendreau became the fifth Johnnie in program history to catch four touchdown passes or more in a game with four (21, 62, 7, and 4 yards), to go along with 115 yards, on six catches in the first half of SJU's win over Macalester.
Defense
DE Hunter Hanke, Sr., Nebraska Wesleyan
Hanke posted three of the Prairie Wolves' seven sacks in a 31-28 loss to Loras, one of them a strip-sack late in the third quarter which set Nebraska Wesleyan up on the Loras 21-yard line. He finished with 10 tackles (four solo), the three sacks, five tackles for loss and the forced fumble.
DT Jordyn Davis, Jr., Utica
Davis racked up nine total tackles (four solo) from his spot on the interior defensive line in a 27-21 win vs. Morrisville State, including a tackle for loss. He also had a pass breakup late in the game to set the Mustangs up with fourth-and-long in an unsuccessful comeback attempt.
DT Logan Miller, So., Union
Miller had a pair of sacks and forced a fumble in the end zone that resulted in a safety in Union's 33-16 victory over Hobart. His sack-fumble in the end zone put Union up 16-0 in the second quarter and he added another sack inside the Hobart 10-yard line in the fourth quarter.
DE Chayce Meyer, Sr., Minnesota-Morris
Meyer recorded a career-high four sacks in the Cougars' 30-27 win vs. Westminster (Mo.). The sacks pushed the offense back 21 yards. Meyer also record seven tackles, five solo and two assisted.
LB Blaine Seidl, Sr., UW-Stout
Seidl was all over the field, leading the Blue Devil defense with 13 total tackles (10 solo), two and a half sacks (for loss of 16 yards), five tackles for loss (24 yards) and a pass breakup in Stout's 27-16 win over No. 11 UW-Oshkosh. He had three TFLs and a sack early in the third quarter to help turn the momentum in Stout's direction.
LB Charlie Davis, So., Roanoke
Davis finished with 14 tackles, 12 of them solo, plus forced and recovered a key fumble to help Roanoke get past Bridgewater on the road, 24-14. He had one and a half tackles for loss and a sack in the win.
CB Max Kirsch, Jr., Linfield
Kirsch made four total tackles and grabbed two interceptions on Saturday in a 23-6 win over Pacific. The junior returned his first pick 19 yards from the 4-yard line to end a Boxer drive in the red zone near the end of the first half. His second interception came late in the third quarter, picking off the Boxers in the end zone.
S Michael Spencer, Jr., Bates
Spencer tallied six total tackles, including five solo stops in Saturday's 35-28 win for Bates over Tufts. He broke up three passes to give him a team-leading four pass breakups on the season. Spencer, along with his twin brother Major, were playing through a difficult personal situation.
S Andre Hall, Jr., UW-River Falls
Hall paced the Falcon defense that forced four Pioneer turnovers as No. 14-ranked UWRF defeated No. 6-ranked UW-Platteville 31-21. Platteville was held to 38 rushing yards while Hall collected two interceptions along with five tackles and one pass breakup.
S Owen Garcia, So., Texas Lutheran
Garcia led the Bulldogs with a career-high 12 tackles in a 55-27 win over Centenary. The sophomore totaled 3.5 tackles for loss with nine solo stops against the Gents. The 12 tackles in a single contest are tied for second-most this season by an SCAC athlete.
CB Cam Roberson, Jr., Southwestern
Roberson helped flip the field twice with a pair of interceptions as crucial moments, along with another interception to deny a Tiger two-point conversion in a 39-31 win vs. Sewanee. The career day also included five tackles. Sewanee had scored 14 consecutive points to take a four-point lead before Roberson's interception changed the momentum and led to a Pirates score. The Tigers scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter with a chance to the tie the game on the two-point conversion before Roberson picked off the Tigers on the attempt, an interception which does not go down as such in the box score according to the NCAA's statistical guidelines. Finally, Sewanee had another chance late to go tie the game. The junior stopped the Tigers once again with a game clinching interception for his second of the game.
Special teams
K Omar Aboutoui, So., Curry
Aboutoui tied or set three field goal records for Curry on Saturday as he went 3-for-3 on field goals, all from 46 yards or longer. His 46-yarder late in the first quarter tied the school record, which he later broke with a 48-yard field goal on the team's next possession. He capped that off with a 53-yard field goal late in the second quarter of a 60-0 win vs. Maine Maritime.
P Josiah Smith, Jr., Wheaton
Smith had three punts on Saturday in Wheaton's win at Illinois Wesleyan as he averaged 56.3 yards per punt, including a career-long 64-yard punt. Smith also had a stellar day as Wheaton's holder on kick attempts, including a successful two-point conversion that he ran in following a high snap on a PAT attempt late in the second quarter. Of his three punts, one landed inside the 20-yard line and another landed on the 20. The 64-yard punt flipped the field, as Wheaton was on its own 16 before the punt went all the way to the IWU 20. IWU went three-and-out and Wheaton got the ball back with excellent field position and scored on the next drive to go up 14-0.
RET Santino Florio, Fr., Benedictine
Florio, making just his second career punt return, ended up taking it 80 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter of a game Benedictine went on to win 56-0 against Eureka.
LS Ryan Rozich, Jr., Bates
When Bates's No. 1 long snapper went down with an injury Saturday against Tufts, Rozich stepped in. He hadn't handled long snapping since high school but the junior captain didn't allow the Bobcats to miss a beat, handling the duties on three punts and one PAT. Crucially, he was able to recover a muffed punt late in the fourth quarter, setting up a Bates touchdown as the Bobcats rallied to win 35-28.
