The 2025 season has seen some wild things, but perhaps none wilder than the run that UW-River Falls has been on, and that was demonstrated in the national semifinal game against Johns Hopkins as well.

If you know anything, you know about Blake Rohrer snagging a pass from Kaleb Blaha and never stopping until he reached the end zone with a 79-yard touchdown catch with 47 seconds left. That and an interception on the next snap by Brady Block secured the victory. 

That came after Johns Hopkins had had a drive stall out at its own 47, so they elected to punt and managed to pin River Falls on its own 4. The fourth quarter had started with a 94-yard drive by Johns Hopkins where Geoff Schroeder ripped off three runs of double-digit yards and caught a pass for 15 yards before Ty Pugliano ran it in for a touchdown to tie the game.

In all, the game was tied three times, and the lead changed hands six times. The teams combined for 1,093 yards of total offense, ran 156 plays, and Kaleb Blaha threw for a school-record 520 yards. That is with him coming out for a few snaps after getting hurt early in the game, and with him being less effective for the remainder of the first half. JHU Jack Schondelmayer was inches away from making a great interception, or at least breaking up a pass, and perhaps this story ends differently, or in overtime, but it's an epic semifinal just the way it is as River Falls secured its first-ever trip to the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl.
